Sixmilecross was the home of the poet W.F. Marshall, whose contribution to
the cultural heritage of mid- and  west Tyrone has been commemorated by the
Marshall Trail, a tourist trail featuring many of the places mentioned in his
works.

The Marshall Country Trail is named after the famous Ulster author and poet William Forbes Marshall (born 1888 - died 1959).
The Marshall Country Trail is a fifty one mile self-guided touring route through the towns, villages and townlands of mid Tyrone. This signposted trail commences from Omagh with twenty-three stops along the way. Along this rural driving route you will find historic sites, places associated with Marshall's life and work, and local scenic spots. Simply follow the signs.
